Dear Friends,

The Annual Appeal is vital for our continued success and meeting our financial needs.

This year we hung over forty diverse exhibitions and offered a variety of educational programs including workshops, classes, sketch groups, demonstrations, gallery walks, lectures and children’s classes.

Community engagement efforts include a revitalized volunteer program, a Rockport Public Schools art show each spring and three scholarships to graduating Rockport High School students. Additionally, we sponsor a free veterans art program and support the annual Christmas pageant.

In 2017 we successfully partnered with Cape Ann Plein Air for an exhibit and sale of national and local juried artists. We are presenting the first major retrospectives of Boston artist Polly Thayer Starr (1904-2006) and Rockport artist Rudy Colao (1927-2014) this fall.

Nonprofits today find a highly competitive environment for community resources, funding and staffing. State and federal funding have fallen dramatically for institutions such as ours, yet we remain vital and dedicated to the character and fabric of the Town and greater Cape Ann as we have for over 96 years.

As the Rockport Art Association & Museum (RAA&M) approaches its 100 year anniversary, the impact on community life continues stronger than ever. Can we do more? Yes, we are planning for the future with long anticipated organizational overhauls and expanding museum and educational programming. With this in mind, we are setting on a new course to bring RAA&M to the forefront of excellence with similar institutions locally and nationally.

Your donation will help us as custodians of this historical building to provide support for new roofing over the Hibbard Gallery, critical restroom upgrades and technology updates in order to improve accessibility and productivity.

As a 501(c)3, your gifts are fully deductible. Please make a gift at any level to the RAA&M Annual Appeal today. On a personal note, my father and I have been members of the Rockport Art Association & Museum collectively for 97 years. I have always supported and been proud of the many programs, community outreach and legacy exhibitions we have put on with your help.

I ask you to join me with a generous gift this year and am deeply grateful for your continued support.
