Custom framing skills are essential for exhibiting artwork, and can be useful when creating unique gifts or simply sprucing up a home or workspace. Quality framing not only looks great, it also adds value to artwork, and it is vital for the preservation and protection of artwork and cherished objects.
This workshop provides a broad introduction to the art of custom framing. All participants will work towards finishing their own framing projects. With this hands-on approach, skills will be gained in measuring, cutting, hinging, and assembling frames with required components. By using an array of tools and materials provided, everyone in the workshop will acquire a working knowledge and understanding of the framing process from start to finish.
This workshop will focus on one item of your choosing (maximum size is 8 x 10 inches) to go behind glass. You will learn to design and put together a custom frame specific to your artwork or object. If you have questions, please contact Sarah Milton in advance to allow time to address unique framing issues, such as what to do if something is three-dimensional, requires a sew-down, or is heavy or delicate. Every framing job presents unique challenges, and it will be useful to have solutions a head of time. Sarah Milton can be reached at: Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or Phone: (978) 546-6604.
All levels welcome. Materials will be provided.
Registration Deadlines: Participants must register by the listed deadline – two weeks prior to the workshop.
Cancellation policy: Up to 7 days prior – any payment minus $50. Tuition will not be refunded after this 7 day period. This policy is strictly enforced.
