ANITA I. JOHNSON grew up in Bucks County, PA, and was naturally influenced by the regional painters of the New Hope School. She attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, studying classical painting techniques with the late Arthur DeCosta. She studied independently for three years in Florence, Italy, focusing on landscape, and then for three years at the atelier of Boston School painter Paul Ingbretson.
Anita Johnson is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Rockport Art Association and North Shore Arts Association. She has won numerous awards including gold and silver medals. She has exhibited at the National Arts Club & Salmagundi Club in New York City, Academic Artists Association, Hudson Valley Artists Association and at national exhibitions in Italy.
