Membership in the Rockport Art Association & Museum is a privilege that has a long tradition and rich history.
Contributing Membership is open to all and comes with some very attractive benefits including:

Artist Members are admitted through a jury process which evaluates the merit of their work, based on professionalism of technique and originality. They are some of the country’s most talented fine artists and fine art photographers. See below for Artist Membership information.

ARTIST MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Painting, Graphics*, Sculpture & Photography Artists are admitted as Exhibiting Members through a jury process, which evaluates the merit of their work, based on professionalism of technique and originality.

Benefits of being an RAA&M Exhibiting Artist Member: exhibition opportunities in solo, member group, non-juried & juried shows; opportunities to instruct and attend workshops; and participation in year-round classes, sketch groups, lectures and artist demonstrations.

Drop off Day: Monday, November 7th,  10 AM – 3 PM
Jury Day: November 9
Pick Up Day: Thursday, November 10th, 10 AM – 3 PM
Welcoming Reception for New Exhibiting Members: Saturday, November 12th, 2 – 4 PM

 APPLICATION GUIDLINES

Applicants will be required to submit 5 original works that are created solely by the applicant – no work completed from classes or under supervision.

Paintings and graphics must be suitably framed/presented to a professional standard.

Image sizes:

  • paintings and graphics – no smaller than 6 x 8 in. and no larger than 48 in. horizontal.
  • photographs – no prints smaller than 11 x 14 and no frames larger than 20 x 24 in.
  • sculpture – must not exceed life size in dimension

Application Fee: $40 (any category)
You may apply for more than one category for 1 application fee – but must submit 5 pieces of work per category.  If accepted, the fee will be deducted from your dues.

The Jury Process: The Jurors use a silent and anonymous method of voting.  Work that receive 60/40 votes is reviewed a second time and a juror may then speak up in defense or opposition for an applicant.  Applicants are accepted on the quality and professionalism of the artwork.  Due to the silent voting process, feedback is not given to applicants who are not accepted.

Notification: Artists will be notified by phone if they have or have not been accepted for membership.  It takes time for us to reach everyone, so please be patient, you will be called.

Annual Dues: (Application Fee will be subtracted if accepted as a member)

  • Painting, Graphics, Sculpture: $150
  • Photography: $80

Applicants must have been a resident of New England for four consecutive weeks.

*The Graphics category includes all drawing mediums and printmaking. Pastels are generally considered painting unless they are used in a sketch-like manner with paper showing.

NEW! The Experimental Group of RAA&M

We are pleased to announce the birth of The Experimental Group of RAA&M. Any artist member and contributing member that seeks creative freedom can join the group.

The mission of the group is to foster, promote and encourage self expression by giving the opportunity to artists to come together, to explore and share ideas towards that creative freedom.
