I am a printmaker/sculptor who had been making prints since 1989 and now making sculpture since 1995. In 1989, I made a career change to pursue a lifetime desire to become an artist. Earlier, I received an MPA degree from The Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh and then returned to the University in 1989 to gain a degree in Studio Arts. After completing my studies, I joined the Pittsburgh Print Group where I was Exhibitions Chairperson from 1993-1998. I have also given workshops and taught printmaking to adults at the Carnegie Museum of Art. In 1998, I became a juried member of the Society of Sculptors, a guild associated with the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. I became a juried member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh for sculpture in 2006.

I began to explore sculpture as a medium because I wanted to work three dimensionally. Before too long I knew that clay was “it” for me. I began working in terra cotta and loved it’s wonderful, earthy, natural qualities. I have made sculptures in all sizes, but I prefer to make pieces that are approaching life size. When they are this size, they seem to have a life and spirit of their own. My sculpture is low fired and finished with high quality glazes so that my work may be exhibited outside.

My subject matter is predominately (but not exclusively) figurative and female. It is about how individuals exist in time and space, both alone and with others, in the present moment and in the next present moment. I am interested in creating sculptures of people who are comfortable in their own skins, people who use this understanding of themselves and their place in the universe to evolve and develop their talents and creativity. I intend my work to be both contemplative and comforting. In the last several years, I have expanded my subject matter to include anthropomorphic animals, especially rabbits.

I now live and work on Cape Ann in Essex, Massachusetts, and have been a member of the Rockport Art Association since 2010. In 2011, I was awarded the Marjorie Romyns Memorial Award for Sculpture. I have been selling my work at the Borelli Edwards “Be Gallery” in Pittsburgh, PA since 1997, and have been exhibited in galleries in Pittsburgh, Chicago, New York, England, and Korea. I have collectors in the United States, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
