Classically trained modern realist, Jo Ellen Reinhardt’s work has been shown in many prestigious museums, galleries, and exhibitions throughout the North East. Although best known for her portraits and still lifes, she also enjoys painting other genres such as plein air landscape and figurative works.
Jo Ellen received her classical training at the former New School of Classical Art in Rhode Island, studied Scientific and Technical Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design, and earned a BA in art from Westfield State University. She is a signature member of the renowned Copley Society of Art including their portrait registry, historic Rockport Art Association & Museum, North Shore Art Association, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and Academic Artists Association. Her work has received many accolades including Best in Show in both Small Stones Festival of Arts and Academic Artists Association, as well as many second-place awards and honorable mentions. Moved by her passion for preserving the techniques and methods of realistic art, in 2014 she co-founded the New England School of Fine Art, located in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to teaching at NESFA, for the last decade, Jo Ellen has enjoyed working with students as a professor of art at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, giving demonstrations at local art associations, and teaching landscape painting abroad in Italy.
Jo Ellen paints mostly from life and observation, using only the highest quality of materials and carefully planning each unique piece. She hopes to give art collectors a work which will be cherished for generations.
