Massachusetts native Kate Hanlon is a printmaker and painter with over 35 years of experience, with a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Upon graduation, she worked for 25 years as a professional printer of etchings and woodcuts for artists of national and international reputation, achieving Master Printer status while continuing to develop her own aesthetic in prints and painting.

Kate has a special love for woodcuts, and for the past 25 years has specialized in the uniquely American medium of white line woodcut, or Provincetown Print. In this method, multicolor prints can be made from a single block of wood, without the need for complicated registration methods.

Her prints and paintings reflect scenes from her life on Boston’s North Shore and surrounding areas. Kate’s award winning work is included in many private collections, as well as those of the Boston Athenaeum, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Speedball Art Materials, and others. Kate is a member of the Boston Printmakers and the Society of American Graphic Artists, and has been a popular teacher of printmaking and drawing throughout New England for several years.
