STATEMENT
“Everyone has a calling. Mine was art. Necessity drove me to be more visual than most when I was a child, and this is in part how I realized art could tell my story. So, childhood, growth, imagination, love, motherhood, middle years, and my environment are all part of my narrative in paint. I put back into life what life has given me.” ~Lully Schwartz 2021
BIOGRAPHY
Lully Schwartz American was born in the coastal community of Beverly, Massachusetts. Lully first formally pursued her art calling in 1978, and she graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1983. Her art further developed during the1980’s while she worked in her first painting studio in Boston’s North End. Influenced by New York East Village artists of the time (e.g., Larry Rivers and both de Koonings, among others) Lully would generate interest with her unique sensibilities for abstracted realism. Notable traits found in Lully’s approach to paint are loose brushwork, light filled color, and bold form.
