Nella's artistry is a reflection of her vibrant Italian heritage, manifesting as a dynamic exploration of color, shape, and texture. Her artistic journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of new dimensions in art, driven by a deep spiritual quest. Creating for Nella is not just an activity but a vital necessity, akin to breathing. Her work, inspired by the essence of life and the power of nature, seeks to interpret the world through a distinctive lens that values expression over perfection. Nella's approach to art defies genre constraints, emphasizing the act of creation itself. The choice of materials and tools plays a secondary role to the profound connection and energy her art generates among viewers, inviting them into a narrative woven from personal experience and emotion.
Born into a family of artists, musicians, and poets in Italy, where she was also educated, Nella carries a rich cultural and academic background in art history and languages, with fluency in five. Her commitment to art is full-time, with studios in North Andover, MA, and at the bustling arts community on Boston's 450 Harrison Ave. Beyond her creations, Nella actively engages in the art community, contributing through various leadership and volunteer roles.
Nella founded the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Women Artists, leading it as president. She also initiated the New England Experimental Art Group to champion artistic freedom, alongside the International Artists Group, which serves as a platform for artists with diverse cultural backgrounds to connect and inspire. Her membership in organizations, such as the American Society of Marine Artists, the North Shore Art Association, the Rockport Art Association and Museum, The National Society of Women Artists, underscores her significant contributions to the art world.
Nella's work is represented in galleries across Massachusetts, New York, and the UK, including the Cortile Gallery in Provincetown, MA, the Centre Street Gallery, Nantucket, MA, the White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY and Thomas Henry Gallery in both Newlyn, Cornwall, UK. Her work has been exhibited in venues like the Noyes Museum of Contemporary Art in New Jersey and The Mystic Seaport Maritime Gallery in Connecticut.
