Every painting I do draws on what I know and teaches me what I don’t expect. Painting becomes an exciting act of discovery.

I love to paint from life, whether it’s a landscape, still life or interior. I’m inspired by the subtleties of color and form that are revealed by the unique quality of light enveloping the subject. I enjoy building a strong composition and exploring painting methods to create the visual motif. When I trust my intuition and emotions, the magic happens and the painting shares my experience with the viewer.

A Massachusetts resident originally from Long Island, NY, I have a BFA in painting and sculpture from Long Island University. After graduating from college, I worked as a graphic designer in New York City and then received my MFA in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design. After a career in design and education, I was very excited to return to painting in 2007.

Over the years, I have studied with a number of notable artists, including: Viktor Butko, Kelly Carmody, Don Demers, Kim English and David Curtis.

Though I primarily paint in oils, I also enjoy painting in gouache and watercolor.

Some of my favorite artists are Camille Corot, Edgar Degas, Antonio López García, Gwen John, Édouard Manet, William Nicholson, John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla and Édouard Vuillard.
