Sharon Jordan Bahosh
“I am infinitely grateful to be an artist”
Sharon Jordan Bahosh was enrolled at the Art Institute of Boston in 1971 majoring in fine art. She studied with Charlotte Wharton in her Worcester Studio and at the Worcester Art Museum and with Daniel Greene at his New York Studio and coordinated portrait workshops for him in the district where she resides. She opened a gallery in the 1970’s and has had either a studio opened to the public or a private atelier since. She participated in local art associations and at the Mystic Art Festival in Connecticut and in Portland and Ogunquit Maine and received her first 1st place award in juried competition in 1974 and has about 40 blue, red, white and yellow ribbons in those early years for portrait and landscape accomplishments. Sharon earned artist membership at the Northshore Art Assn., the Rockport Art Assn. and Academic Art Assn. around the turn of the century and most recently is a member of the Lyme Art Association, Lyme CT. and a former member of the Portrait Society of America.
Her subject matter is old places juxtaposed with today and are painted en plein air... the days shadows on the store facades on Main St. Gloucester, rose bushes overflowing on a white picket fence, A ship called Little Lady in its indubitable berth, mine and your hometown in as fine a glory as when it was first built. Old cars found where they were left a long time ago, the Old Stone Church that once was part of a little village and a 1741 waterfall at the old mill are examples. Her repertoire doesn’t end there, Sharon is a prolific portrait artist integrating the same artistry into recreating persons on canvas. Her well rounded portfolio is a culmination of 50 years of professionalism and commitment and passion to paint sustains her undeniable calling. Her award winning paintings grace the walls of church, municipalities, corporate and private collections near and far. She is represented past and present at Arts Unlimited, The Charles Gallery, The Boulder Gallery, Dragonfly Gallery, The Block Island Gallery, Eisenhauer Gallery, Willoughby Fine Art Gallery and Fine Art New England at 2276 Main Street, Lancaster, MA 01523, (508)-284-0049.
